As Kate Morgan helpfully explains in the trailer for the new 24 miniseries, Jack Bauer has been “off the grid” for four years, a fugitive agent living on the run who nevertheless feels compelled to re-emerge in order to stop another catastrophe. (This time, it’s an attack on the U.S. president while he’s visiting London.) That involves getting the band back together, or at least reconnecting with Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub), who has apparently discovered the Lisbeth Salander in the four years since we last saw her. Judging by the trailer, the threat is even bigger than Jack thinks, though it isn’t apparent who’s behind it just yet. 24: Live Another Day premieres May 5 and will go 12 episodes this time around, playing more loosely with the “real time” setup that defined the original series.
