Finally! Someone made a new text homage to The Shining. Juan David Gomez, creator of Sesame Street Fighter and Cooking Mama Breaking Bad, has created an automatic text generator called Psychotic Writer that creates a book similar to Jack Torrance’s masterpiece in the movie.
The generated manuscript is reminiscent of Mark Z. Danielewski’s House Of Leaves, a puzzle of words with an artistic representation of insanity. Each chapter has 237 sentences (yes, every one of them is “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”) in varying degrees of crazy typesetting. Although, as in The Shining, the finished manuscript may never come—as of this writing, the site auto-generated 207 chapters, with no end in sight. Thankfully every chapter is exportable to a PDF so you can leave your novel-in-progress out and make your loved ones worry that you’re an axe-wielding maniac.
