Jack White produced an Insane Clown Posse cover of a Mozart song about licking asses

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s love of scatological humor is so famous, there’s an entire Wikipedia page dedicated to collecting the many letters, poems, and even canons he wrote about shitting on things, be they beds or the faces of family members. In that sense, Mozart was sort of the shock-rapper of 18th-century Vienna, with some even going so far as to hypothesize that he suffered from Tourette syndrome—so who better to interpret Mozart’s mostly forgotten shit-songs than Insane Clown Posse, which has been successfully setting Tourette syndrome to beats for years now?

According to a press release, the Detroit-based group has teamed with fellow Detroit native Jack White, who will produce an updated version of Mozart’s infamous “party piece” canon “Leck Mich Im Arsch”—which translates as “Lick Me In The Arse”—for release as a 7-inch and iTunes download, debuting through White’s Third Man Records on Sept. 13. Again, that’s a Jack White-produced single featuring Insane Clown Posse covering a Mozart song about licking asses. Perhaps 2011 is not such a boring year for music after all.

As is their idiom, ICP have provided the “poignant lyrical addition” to Mozart’s original melody (with chorus sung in “operatic German”), here reinterpreted by Nashville garage-rockers Jeff The Brotherhood. And while the original “Leck Mich Im Arsch” was previously adapted and expanded after Mozart’s death into the sanitized “Let Us Be Glad”—which mused on the importance of finding the positive in everyday life in much the same way as ICP’s “Miracles”—the duo obviously chose to stick closer to the song's original spirit, crafting a musical mini-biography on Mozart's love of shit that's like a coprophilic play on Amadeus. Enjoy, or something.
