Never one to sit still very long, Jack White will release a new album by The Dead Weather—a quartet featuring White along with The Kills’ Alison Mosshart plus Jack Lawrence and Dean Fertita—this September. The Dead Weather has never been the most active of White’s projects, having last released an album in 2010, but its slim discography is solid. The album, called Dodge & Burn, will consist of new songs along with revamped versions of Dead Weather songs that have been trickling out via vinyl singles from White’s Third Man Records. And, naturally, there will be a complex limited-edition version, with vinyl pressed on “inclement weather”-colored wax and a deck of Dead Weather playing cards. (As with many oddities from Third Man, that piece will be available by subscription only.) The Dead Weather won’t tour for Dodge & Burn, though, so turn it up loud and close your eyes.
