Jackson Browne sues McCain
Add singer-songwriter Jackson Browne to the list of musicians–including Chuck Berry, ABBA, and John Mellencamp–who don't want Republican presidential candidate John McCain using their music in his campaign. Browne has sued McCain and the RNC for using his 1977 hit, "Running On Empty," in an ad run in Ohio that mocks Democrat Barack Obama's suggestion that keeping your tires properly inflated and getting regular tune-ups conserves gas. Browne, a longtime liberal and contributor to Obama's campaign, is seeking $75,000 in damages. McCain's camp has disowned the ad, saying it was not a product of the RNC, but of the Ohio Republican Party. The ad has been pulled.
