Jada Pinkett Smith and 50 Cent are both pissed at that Tupac biopic
Benny Boom’s Tupac Shakur biopic, All Eyez On Me, opened this weekend to tepid reviews, with critics suggesting that the film does little to capture the drama and heights of Shakur’s life and career. Now, you can add Shakur’s old friend, Jada Pinkett Smith, and long-time admirer, 50 Cent, to the list of people disappointed in the film; both got on social media today to call out the movie for its portrayal of the rap legend’s life.
Pinkett Smith went into extensive detail with her critiques, pointing out a number of scenes between her and Shakur that she says simply didn’t happen:
Still, despite clearly being upset with her depiction in the film, Pinkett Smith was quick to note that she wasn’t blaming actors and Kat Graham and Demetrius Shipp Jr., who played her and Shakur. “You both did a beautiful job with what you were given,” she wrote to them on Twitter. “Thank you both.” Pinkett Smith ended by wishing a happy birthday to Shakur, who would have turned 46 today.
50 Cent, meanwhile, was more straightforward with his review of the film: He blasted the movie on Instagram today, declaring it both “bullshit” and “LOL SMH TRASH.”
