Jake Johnson and Aubrey Plaza star in JC Brooks And The Uptown Sound's video for "Rouse Yourself"

JC Brooks And The Uptown Sound recently brought some relentlessly paced funk to “No Diggity” for A.V. Undercover. Now the Chicago group has released a new video for the Howl track “Rouse Yourself.” Directed by the band’s guitarist (and Second City alum) Billy Bungeroth, the clip features New Girl’s Jake Johnson and Parks And Recreation’s Aubrey Plaza—who also appeared together in Safety Not Guaranteed. Johnson and Plaza’s characters wake up together in the morning, but Johnson’s inability to reach her later in the day inspires some violent delusions of grandeur that involve interrupting one of the band’s shows. Plaza doesn’t play as big a role as she does in Father John Misty’s “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings,” but she does get a nicely droll voicemail at the end—and chills out in a bathtub for a while, which may be of interest to some people. Check out the video—and the video for the band’s “No Diggity” cover—below.
