Jameela Jamil to host completely miserable game show for TBS
American TV-watchers only know Jameela Jamil as The Good Place’s Tahani Al-Jamil (the comparatively disappointing sister of the brilliant and wonderful Kamilah Al-Jamil), but she’s had a long and successful career as a host (or “presenter”) on British TV. Thanks to TBS, Americans will soon get a chance to see her present something as well, with the network announcing that Jamil will host a new game show called The Misery Index. According to a press release, the show is based on a card game called Shit Happens, which asks players to rank shitty scenarios based on how shitty they are—the example in the press release asks if a “third-degree sunburn [is] better or worse than seeing your father naked.” It sounds like there are “right” answers to these ranking questions, making this seem a bit like Family Feud but with shitty stuff instead of wacky innuendo.
Jamil will be joined on The Misery Index by the Tenderloins comedy troupe, who may be better known as the impractical jokers behind TruTV’s Impractical Jokers.
