James Cameron directing Black Eyed Peas concert film, skeptical question mark?

Even though James Cameron has already willingly volunteered to help make sense out of one toxic mess, somehow we’re skeptical that the Avatar director has agreed to direct a 3D Black Eyed Peas tour movie, as Will.I.Am recently averred. Maybe it’s the fact that just a few months ago, Cameron was talking about how his newly conferred stewardship as Captain Planet had made all other, non-environment-saving projects seem “trivial by comparison”—and short of an extended cameo on Entourage, we can’t think of a more trivial pursuit than making a Black Eyed Peas concert film. But then, perhaps the director really did hit it off with the band while co-shilling at Samsung’s recent 3D TV event, with both parties mutually deciding that as long as they were both laughing all the way to the bank, they may as well split a cab. In an interview with Vibe (excerpted by MTV), Will.I.Am describes the alleged upcoming collaboration:

“We have the biggest director, because we are the biggest group on the planet. The Peas are filming it in South America. People will be able to see us in the theater with the 3-D glasses and everything."

You read that right: With the 3-D glasses and everything; nothing is beyond the reach of the biggest group on the planet, who will even throw a lasso around the Muses and drag them to terra firma to inscribe the “dope” storyline that Will.I.Am believes will separate the Peas’ concert film from all the rest. Well, that and the fact that, whereas other bands may put on international airs simply because they’ve crisscrossed the Atlantic a few times, the Black Eyed Peas are truly the Magellan of songs about dancing and ass:

“We've toured from America and Europe, to the Middle East, South America, Asia and Africa. It's not like we go, 'Yo, we are international, you know what I'm saying? London and Paris!' Nah, that's just two cities. We want to go across the planet."

Just the planet? Such humility is unbecoming, Will.I.Am.
