James Comey’s 9-year-old neighbor baked him cookies, nothing nefarious about that

He may have been shown the door by President Trump, but the now-former FBI director James Comey has something to cheer about—a 9-year-old neighbor decided to bake him cookies that are 100 percent not laced with poison. According to NPR, 9-year-old Abby Grace brought over chocolate chip cookies that she and she alone handled and baked after seeing reporters camped out outside Comey’s Northern Virginia home. The young girl’s mother spoke with NPR’s Mara Liasson: “There were a lot of reporters at the foot of his driveway today,” she said using perfect non-Russian-inflected, American English syntax. “Abby thought that was quite inhospitable.”

After Abby Grace baked her cookies, a gesture that should draw zero suspicion from the man once tasked with investigating Kremlin-Trump collusion, the mother said: “[Abby Grace] walked up, shook the hand of the 6-foot-10 agent, introduced herself, and, hopefully made Director Comey’s day a little bit better!” Washington, D.C. station WUSA took a picture of a heart-shaped note Abby Grace wrote for Comey. It read, in the non-replicable pen stroke of a child: “We are proud to be your neighbor and thank you for all you have done for America. Love: Abby Grace.”

Comey has made no public appearances since the cookies were delivered.
