James Corden dethrones LL Cool J as Grammys host

With the Grammys now entering their 59th year, CBS and The Recording Academy have decided it’s finally time for some new blood in the hosting role. The organizations announced via press release today that the Grammys are swapping one James for another, with late-night host and Carpool Karaoke driver James Corden taking over for rapper and naval crimes investigator LL Cool J(ames) as master of ceremonies. It’s no offense to LL Cool J, who had a long, serviceable run as the overseer of the most ostentatious night of musical achievement. CBS and the Recording Academy admit Corden has “big shoes” to fill as the new host, but they also have full confidence that the Emmy and Tony winner will acquit himself well in the role.

Of the news, Corden said “I am truly honored to be hosting The Grammys next year. It’s the biggest, most prestigious award show in music, and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such an incredible night.” Okay, but try telling that to this guy.
