James Franco doesn’t know where—or when—he is in the 11/22/63 trailer
In November, Hulu released an official teaser trailer for its upcoming time-travel series 11/22/63, based on the Stephen King novel about a high school teacher, Jake Epping, who goes back in time in order to stop the assassination of John F. Kennedy. James Franco stars as Jake, and while he had little more to do than look very serious in the teaser, Hulu has released a new trailer where he gets to keep looking very serious, and also confused.
Chris Cooper does most of the talking as Al Templeton, a diner owner who has a secret closet that can transport people back to 1963. He spells out the mission for Jake, who in turn looks confused. He also tells Jake he’s not even sure if Lee Harvey Oswald was the guy who did it, and Jake, in turn, looks confused. “The past doesn’t want to be changed,” Al tells a very confused Jake. Time travel is confusing. The trailer, and Franco’s expression throughout, make that very clear. But it’s not all just fun and assassination prevention. There’s a love story in there somewhere, too, and maybe a love triangle involving the past and present? Poor, confused Jake.
Sarah Gadon, Daniel Webber, Josh Duhamel, T.R. Knight, Cherry Jones, and Brooklyn Sudano also star in the eight-episode limited series, which was written by Friday Night Lights writer Bridget Carpenter. Carpenter executive produces alongside King, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk. The first two hours of 11/22/63 will be directed by The Last King Of Scotland director Kevin Macdonald.
11/22/63 premieres on Hulu on Monday, February 15, 2016.
