James Franco is moving on to Chuck Palahniuk adaptations

In a stunning reversal of most freshman English majors, James Franco has moved on from William Faulkner and is really getting into Chuck Palahniuk. Specifically, he’s optioned Palahniuk’s Rant, a novel about a high school messiah who founds an “urban demolition derby” called Party Crashing before dying in a spectacular highway smash-up of his own. It’s not clear at this point if Franco intends to write, produce, direct, star in, make an intensely homoerotic reimagining of, or some combination thereof with Rant. It’s also unclear if Franco has a studio backing him up, or if he’s doing this on his own. Either way, his roommate’s going to be pissed he tore town his Bob Marley poster and hung up a Fight Club one instead.
