James Gunn's secret horror movie with Elizabeth Banks opens in November

James Gunn’s departure from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is unfortunate for so, so many reasons, but let us not forget that the filmmaker who came of age in Lloyd Kaufman’s shadow is not going anywhere. A return to the delicious, ultra-gory horror on which he built his career is all but guaranteed, and, according to Sony’s release schedule (via ScreenRant), it begins this fall.

An Untitled James Gunn Horror Movie is currently listed as arriving on November 30th via the studio, and odds are it’s the same one he teased earlier this year. Gunn is a producer on the movie, which finds him reunited with Elizabeth Banks, the star of Gunn’s 2006 sci-fi splatter flick Slither. David Yarovesky, a longtime Gunn collaborator, is directing the movie for The H Collective, while Gunn’s brother, Brian, and cousin, Mark, penned the script.

As /Film notes, Gunn apparently planned on announcing the project at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which he was pulled from amidst the kerfuffle over his tweets. As such, plot details remain scarce, though its IMDB page reveals that The Office’s David Denman and Breaking Bad’s Matt Jones will co-star. Nevertheless, Sony confirms it will open on November 30, which will officially mark the beginning of Gunn’s next chapter.
