The brilliant sitcom Don’t Trust The B—— In Apartment 23 was disappointingly short-lived, which means the universe only got to enjoy so much of James Van Der Beek’s time playing a wacky version of himself, but this trailer for Viceland’s What Would Diplo Do? seems like it might as well be an Apartment 23 sequel series. Van Der Beek isn’t exactly playing the same character, but there are definitely shades of the satirical Van Der Beek in its depiction of famous DJ Diplo as a very stupid and self-obsessed star. It’s too early to tell if it could actually live up to Apartment 23, but at least it might scratch a very specific itch for that show’s fans.
Also, for the record, the real Diplo is an executive producer on the series.
What Would Diplo Do? will premiere on Viceland on August 3.
