Jamie Foxx and Benicio Del Toro to star in next movie from Spring Breakers director
According to an exclusive report from Variety, Jamie Foxx has signed on to star in The Trap, a “gangster drama” from Spring Breakers director Harmony Korine. The plot will have something to do with revenge, and Korine says it will be his “most ambitious film to date,” but Variety doesn’t have too many details beyond that. Thankfully, The Hollywood Reporter posted its own exclusive about 20 minutes later, and that one revealed a bit more actual information. Isn’t “exclusive” a fun word?
Anyway, the THR article says that Benicio Del Toro will also appear in The Trap, and that it will revolve around a man who was just released from prison trying to get revenge on a childhood friend who became rich and successful. We don’t know what the rich friend did to warrant the prison friend getting revenge, but we just assume that all rich people are bad guys anyway. There’s no word yet on whether or not James Franco—who had a much-talked-about appearance in Spring Breakers—will show up in The Trap, but it’s probably just a matter of time before Deadline gets the exclusive on that.
