Jamie Foxx reportedly Tarantino's pick for Django Unchained

As rumored earlier when Idris Elba signed up for Pacific Rim, Jamie Foxx has emerged as the definite frontrunner to play the lead in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, having stepped over other rumored candidates like Elba, Will Smith, and Chris Tucker like so many slaughtered slaveowners. “Tarantino has made his choice,” according to Deadline—who neatly sidesteps the idea that his choice was sort of made for him—and negotiations with Foxx are now set to begin officially. If all goes as planned, Foxx and Christoph Waltz will be squaring off against Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson in time for Christmas Day, 2012, and clad in our holiday finery, we’ll look back on those Will Smith rumors and laugh merrily at what might have been.
