Jamie Lee Curtis retires from acting?
The Hollywood Reporter and the Associated Press have picked up an item spinning off from this weekend's edition of Access Hollywood in which Jamie Lee Curtis suggested she has retired from acting. The reasoning: "I'm just focused on my family and just can't imagine anything that's going to pull me away from them right now," Curtis says. That doesn't mean that Curtis has retired entirely. She's appeared on the show to promote her latest children's book, Is There A Human Race?
Who knows whether or not the retirement will stick? These things have a way of getting forgotten fairly easily. It would be a loss, of course, if it did. Curtis is always a welcome presence, often able to spin gold out of straw as in a film like Freaky Friday and do considerably more when given a film of substance, like The Tailor Of Panama. Curtis is also notable for overcoming her early reputation as a "scream queen," thanks to roles in horror movies both classic (Halloween) and otherwise (Prom Night). Sarah Michelle Gellar, there may be hope for you yet.
