Jane Krakowski says "there's definitely been talk" of a 30 Rock revival
Listen up, fives: A 10 is speculating. Jane Krakowski, who starred as the vain, demanding Jenna Maroney on NBC’s Emmy-winning cult sitcom 30 Rock—and continues to play a variation on that same theme on creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s new show, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt—says a 30 Rock revival is possible. Not greenlit or anything, but possible.
Interviewed at opening night of Mean Girls on Broadway, Krakowski tells The Hollywood Reporter that a revival of 30 Rock “would be a dream come true. We all had the greatest time on that show.” She says that “there’s definitely been talk and conversations” about bringing the cast back together for more episodes, and that “we all say over and over again that working on that show was probably the best experience we’re ever going to have in our careers, as far as creativity goes.” Speaking with the authority that only comes from being a two-time Cable ACE award nominee, she adds: “Right now, [reboots are] the trend. And I would be thrilled if the trend continued over into 30 Rock.”
And with NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt thirstier than a vanload of Crabcatchers to revive beloved NBC classics—“I’d say to Tina, ‘Hey, you think some more 30 Rock makes any sense?’ She’d say, ‘I don’t know maybe,’” Greenblatt said at last summer’s TCAs—it appears that the only thing needed to jump-start a 30 Rock revival is Fey and Carlock’s willingness to do it. Fey was coy when Entertainment Tonight asked her about it on the Mean Girls red carpet, saying, “Oh my gosh, we’ll see. When will we know? We would know by May. If there was a great idea for a reboot, we’d find out in May?,” which is honestly a more substantial statement than one usually gets from celebrities about these things.
