Jane Lynch will yell at The Three Stooges
The Farrelly Brothers’ long-gestating Three Stooges movie, the rumors of which have been passed down from generation to generation, seems to have finally completed its casting. And much as the original, weirder Moe, Larry, and Curly trio of Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn, and Jim Carrey has given way to Chris Diamontopoulos, Sean Hayes, and Will Sasso, the last crucial role in the film—that of the domineering nun Mother Superior, who runs the orphanage where the Stooges stage their earliest shenanigans—has gone from stranger candidates like Cher and Richard Jenkins in drag (seriously) to the slightly more obvious Jane Lynch. Not that Lynch is a poor choice, or anything; it’s just that shouting at kids is sort of already her niche, and she’s essentially just trading her Glee track suits for a habit here. Anyway, what’s done is done, the film begins shooting in May, and our years of Three Stooges-related casting speculation are all but at an end.
