Janet Jackson reveals release date, track list, cover art for upcoming album

It’s been three months since Janet Jackson let it slip that she putting together her first new album since 2008’s Discipline. But until this point, further details about the project have been hard to come by. Today, finally, the singer shed more light on the highly anticipated record, Unbreakable, revealing on her official website that it has been pegged for an October 2nd release date, will run 17 tracks long, and feature guest appearances by J. Cole on the album’s first single “No Sleep” and Missy Elliott on a track named “Burnitup!”

According to an update on the singer’s official page, the new album will “mark the first time Janet Jackson has opened up about her brother Michael,” and espouse “Janet’s views on where we stand today as individuals and as the inter-related elements of a planet. Some of these relate to her convictions passionately expressed in Rhythm Nation 1814, including the need to bring things out in the open and to have a dialogue.”

Unbreakable will be released on Jackson’s Rhythm Nation imprint and is available for pre-order on iTunes now.
