Jared Leto to direct James Ellroy crime thriller 77

According to Deadline, Jared Leto is attached to direct 77, a thriller based on a screenplay written by L.A. Confidential’s James Ellroy. This will be Leto’s first time directing a feature-length scripted film, so he’ll soon be able to add another line to his résumé under “Rock Star” and “Damaged Clown.” The film is set in “politically charged 1974 Los Angeles,” and it revolves around two police officers who are trying to find kidnapped heiress Patty Hearst while also investigating the brutal murder of another police officer. From there, they’ll “uncover not only relentless corruption and crime, but a dark and violent conspiracy as well.”

Also, just to add another famous name to this list, Deadline says the film be produced by Dick Wolf and his Wolf Films production company.
