Jason Bateman, new Fox sitcom, gay best friend, Wife Nanny
Jason Bateman's production company is working with Fox on a new sitcom called Wife Nanny, which is about a "sports executive who secretly hires a gay best friend for his wife," according to Deadline. The idea—which sounds like a joke, or maybe a dare, but apparently isn't—comes from Spike Feresten, who's best known for writing "The Soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld. (Feresten is lesser known but at least vaguely beloved for Talkshow With Spike Feresten.) Right now, the deal with Fox is what's called "script commitment with penalty," which either means the network will pay a penalty if it decides not to go to pilot or that whoever came up with the name Wife Nanny will have to do some kind of charity work to make up for it.
