Jason Bateman to narrate new Lego documentary

As much as people enjoyed the recent animated Lego Movie, some hardcore Lego fans were probably disappointed that the film had too much fun adventuring centered on the power of creativity, and simply not enough interviews with Danish people about the history of the tiny plastic blocks. But soon, thanks to documentary filmmakers Daniel Junge and Kief Davidson, those people clamoring for a slightly less wacky movie about Lego will get their wish with Beyond The Brick: A Lego Brickumentary.

According to Variety, Jason Bateman has signed on to narrate the Brickumentary, which will cover Lego-based art galleries, Lego Therapy (often used to help children with autism), and AFOLS—or “Adult Fans Of Lego,” which is one of those things that doesn’t sound embarrassing at all until you put a label on it. Beyond The Brick will premiere April 20 at the Tribeca Film Festival. Who knows: If this movie takes off, it could inspire a whole new wave of brickumentary filmmakers to tell the true stories behind some of the world’s other famous bricks, like the yellow ones that line the road to the Emerald City, Steve Carrell’s character in the Anchorman movies, or a third famous brick.
