TNT has put an end to the Jason Lee-starring drama Memphis Beat, which I think was about a cop who caught criminals by snaring them in his sweet guitar licks. Sorry, I’ve never seen the show. Based on the ads I’ve seen, I know it has something to do with the blues and that Lee sports Elvis sideburns. And no disrespect intended to Memphis Beat fans. It’s just that it’s nearly quitting time after a long week, so I’m not going to look it up just so I can pretend as though I’m familiar with it. I’m just going to imagine it’s about a detective who packed a vintage hollow-body Gretsch instead of a six-shooter and, like Memphis Beat, call it a day.
