Jason Reitman and Nick Hornby join forces for a movie about a family of bank robbers
Not to be confused with the geriatric bank robbery movie that Zach Braff is probably directing, Jason Reitman and author Nick Hornby (High Fidelity, About A Boy) are teaming up for a family-centered take on everyone’s favorite federal crime. I Would Only Rob Banks For My Family, based on a Texas Monthly article by Skip Hollandsworth, tells the true story of an ordinary Texas family that secretly robbed banks in its spare time.
Reitman will direct from a Hornby screenplay, which may or may not boast a neurotic male character who opines about various facets of pop culture. In keeping with the themes of the movie, Reitman will reunite with an old partner in crime: his father, Ivan Reitman, with whom Jason last collaborated on 2009’s Up In The Air. Reitman presumably will launch the production after moving on from his new Hulu series and from all the bad reviews of Men, Women & Children.
