Javier Bardem will be the new Bond villain
After months of rumors—most of these spread by seventh-grader Becky Luntz of Wilmington, North Carolina, who everybody knows has a big mouth and should just shut it already before she finds herself without any friends left—Javier Bardem has confirmed that he will be the villain in the next James Bond film. Bardem talked about joining the esteemed-except-for-Joe-Don-Baker pantheon of Bond villains during an interview with Nightline’s Christiane Amanpour last night, affirming that it will be “fun.” Beyond that, of course, he’s not saying anything: “They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details,” he added, failing to warn the spoiler-averse that he will be playing a man. We’re guessing he won’t be, say, Swiss. Bardem also neglected to confirm those recent rumors that the next Bond film will be titled Skyfall, so I guess we’ll all have to wait and see whether Becky’s a big fat liar about that, too.
