Jawbox to reunite for one-off performance on Jimmy Fallon

Last week, The A.V. Club heard from a friend in the know a delicious rumor: Late-night host Jimmy Fallon had invited seminal D.C. post-punk band Jawbox onto the show to perform "Savory," the single from its mind-blowing 1994 album, For Your Own Special Sweetheart. We dared not utter it aloud, lest we jinx it.

Looks like we didn't: Earlier today, Aaron Leitko of Washington's City Paper reported the band was considering a reunion on "late-night TV" to coincide with the Sweetheart's reissue on Dischord Records. Not long after, Billboard confirmed it: The band will appear on the Dec. 8 episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Although Jawbox has no plans to do anything more than that, frontman J. Robbins told the City Paper, “It’s conceivable, but only remotely, that we could play some shows.”

For those of us who sorely miss Jawbox—who broke up in 1997—no ray of hope is too faint. Here's the video of "Savory" to help explain our devotion:
