Jeff Tweedy announces new band, confirms solo album and tour dates
A few tour dates from Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy have dribbled out over the past few months, including a headlining slot at Taste Of Chicago. Today, Tweedy announced a full-scale tour—and the existence of a new backing band that includes his 18-year-old son, Spencer, on drums. The band is rounded out by guitarist Jim Elkington (The Zincs, Eleventh Dream Day), bassist Darin Gray (Dazzling Killmen, a whole bunch of experimental stuff), and keyboard player Liam Cunningham. The summer tour will be “loosely staged in two parts,” with the band performing on songs from Tweedy’s long rumored and just now officially confirmed solo album (no release date, no title), and Tweedy performing songs from his vast catalog solo-acoustic.
