Jemma Simmons
Who she is: Jemma Simmons, a.k.a. one-half of FitzSimmons
Her power: No superpowers, but as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., she’s been trained in combat and firearms. However, her speciality is biochemistry, and working in the lab with Leo Fitz to develop chemicals and bio-agents for use by S.H.I.E.L.D.
Her story: Jemma Simmons was recruited by Phil Coulson directly out of the S.H.I.E.L.D. academy, along with her best friend and lab partner, Leo Fitz, as seen on Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Simmons helped to fend off the initial Hydra assault on S.H.I.E.L.D., and was saved by Fitz when the two were dropped into the ocean by double agent Grant Ward. She went undercover at Hydra in season two, uncovering secrets about Hydra’s research projects, before being exposed and subsequently rescued by Bobbi Morse, a.k.a. Mockingbird. After her team worked to recover the Monolith, it swallowed Jemma whole, transporting her to a distant alien planet where she lived—and grew to love Will Daniels, the astronaut and sole other person to survive the planet and its evil alien creature (later revealed to be Hive)—for more than six months, until Fitz rescued her. Since returning, Simmons has begun a romance with Fitz while they worked to find a cure for Hive’s infection powers.
Following Hive’s defeat, Jemma and Fitz continued their relationship, moving in together and everything. Unfortunately, Fitz was then kidnapped and replaced by a Life Model Decoy containing a version of his consciousness. So, not the best turn of events. Simmons and Daisy Johnson are working to save Fitz and the rest of the team.
