Jenna Elfman to play First Lady in NBC sitcom pilot

Deadline reports that Jenna Elfman will play FLOTUS to Bill Pullman’s POTUS in NBC’s 1600 Penn, a comedy pilot that centers on a wacky First Family. Elfman, specifically, will play a “street-smart First Lady with working class roots.” The idea of Elfman’s Dharma in the West Wing goes against everything that Stockard Channing’s Abigail Barlet taught us, but we’ll give her a shot. Book Of Mormon star Josh Gad is set to play Elfman’s bawdy stepson who boomerangs back into the fold to cause some presidential chaos. The pilot is co-created by Gad, Jon Lovett, and Modern Family director Jason Winer.
