Jennifer Lawrence to star as imperfect mate in The Rosie Project
Columbia Pictures is set to adapt Graeme Simsion’s novel The Rosie Project, about a socially challenged genetics professor who develops a scientific survey to find his perfect partner, as a feature romantic dramedy.
The project recently lost Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who were initially attached to direct, but quit when the Lego Movie team realized they’re going to be very busy trying to meet impossible fan standards with the young Han Solo project. But with the loss of Lord and Miller came a win for Columbia Pictures, as it has now landed Jennifer Lawrence to star as the female lead.
Lawrence is set to play Rosie, the woman who shakes up the protagonist’s mission to find the perfect woman; she fits none of his criteria, yet has a hold over him. You can probably see where this is going. The script comes from Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who wrote the thematically similar (500) Days Of Summer, also about a man with over-idealized notions of romance and relationships.
