Jerry Lewis drops the other f-bomb
Are we ready for this again? Following in the footsteps of Don Imus, Mel Gibson, Michael Richards, and Isaiah Washington, America's funnyman (sorry, Neil Hamburger) Jerry Lewis dropped a slur during his annual Labor Day telethon. On Monday, the 81-year-old started riffing before a live camera–and joked about an imaginary family member named Jesse, "the illiterate faggot." While there's been no statement from Lewis' camp yet, Neil Giuliano, president of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, said Lewis' comment "feeds a climate of hatred and intolerance that contributes to putting our community in harm's way." Lewis' 42nd telethon raised a record $63.7 million for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
