Jerry Lewis, Marvin Hamlisch, Rupert Holmes to bring Nutty Professor to Broadway with the eizen flaven and the nice lady!
Fans of Jerry Lewis, "The Pina Colada Song" and A Chorus Line are in for treat. According to Playbill , Lewis will make a fabulously tardy directorial debut by taking the reigns of a Nutty Professor musical with music by Rupert Holmes and Marvin Hamlisch and a book by Holmes, who found a second career as a screenwriter, playwright and novelist after finding fame in the seventies as a piano-tickling songster.
This isn't the first time Lewis has milked his signature film for a little extra lucre. He was a producer on the Eddie Murphy Nutty Professor remake and lent his voice to a direct-to-video 2008 sequel starring Drake Bell, the young people's favorite, as the grandson of Lewis' zany academic.
The Nutty Professor is scheduled to hit the Great White Way sometime next year.
