Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart to rekindle their passionate onscreen romance in American Ultra
After their smoldering sexual tension in 2009’s Adventureland left viewers breathless, let's say, Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart are finally getting the onscreen reunion fans have been begging for. The Hollywood Reporter says the duo will reunite in American Ultra, an action comedy directed by Nima Nourizadeh (Project X) and written by Max Landis (Chronicle). Eisenberg takes on the transformative role of an apathetic stoner named Mike who lives in a small town with his (probably long-suffering) girlfriend. The couples’ lives are turned upside down when Mike becomes the target of a government operation set to wipe him out. Producer Anthony Bregman explains, “Simply put, American Ultra will be the most fun you can possibly have in a movie theater without the use of drugs, fireworks, or canola oil”—a statement that, of course, applies to anyone whose idea of fun involves two subdued actors exchanging awkward banter in the middle of a car chase. Filming is set to begin April 2014.
