Jessica Paré to play someone interesting in Amazon’s The Interestings
Mad Men’s Jessica Paré is going back to period dramas, landing her first major role since Megan Draper drifted away in a Coca-Cola haze with the rest of the Mad Men world last year. According to TVLine, Paré is joining the cast of The Interestings, an Amazon pilot about a group of interesting friends who meet at an interesting teen arts camp in the interesting year of 1974. The potential series—an adaptation of the 2013 Meg Wolitzer novel of the same title—will then follow the friends beyond their arts camp and through 30 years of their lives together and apart, so Paré won’t be stuck in the past forever. She’s set to play Ash, a successful theater director and philanthropist who is hiding something from her husband. But will she sing “Zou Bisou Bisou” to him on his birthday? Paré is contractually obligated to sing “Zou Bisou Bisou” in everything she stars in henceforth, right?
The Interestings will also star Six Feet Under’s Lauren Ambrose, who recently finished an arc on the now-over (but is it?) X-Files revival. The pilot was written by Masters Of Sex and Nip/Tuck writer-producers Lyn Greene and Richard Levine and will be directed by Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire director Mike Newell. Interesting!
