Jessica Szohr to star in new CW pilot from Kevin Williamson
Deadline reports that Jessica Szohr has been tapped to star in an untitled paranormal drama pilot being developed by Kevin Williamson for the CW. Could the lack of a title for this project mean that the network is trying to be low-key about the fact that it’s actually plotting to bring back Williamson’s short-lived teen witch series The Secret Circle? Nope, but we can dream. Written by Williamson and Game Of Thrones director David Nutter, this CW pilot centers on a woman who seeks help from a parapsychologist when her life starts taking a turn for the paranormal.
The parapsychologist, who used to be successful but now just does sad tours at sad local ghost conventions for sad people, will be played by Longmire’s Bailey Chase. Szohr plays Jasmine Lacroix, who is not the heiress to a sparkling water empire, but rather the granddaughter of a voodoo priestess. Lacroix has turned her family legacy into a successful tourist shop in Baton Rouge, because she knows magic sells. Szohr, who is returning to the CW after having played Vanessa Abrams on Gossip Girl, recently booked a part in the Twin Peaks revival. Interestingly, Chase will also be moving to Twin Peaks or a small role. Shall we seek out a parapsychologist about this cosmic coincidence? Well, it’s not that crazy—just about everyone is moving to Twin Peaks these days.
Williamson, who developed The Vampire Diaries for the CW (as well as The Secret Circle—have we mentioned The Secret Circle and how it should come back from the dead?), also recently sold a pilot to ABC about a young H.G. Wells traveling through time. Williamson’s The Following was cancelled in 2014 and, unlike The Secret Circle, it should stay dead.
