Jimmy Eat World announces new album, shares new song “Get Right”

Since the release of its highly successful fourth LP, 2001’s Bleed American, Jimmy Eat World has been remarkably consistent with its album releases, dropping a new one every three years. Futures dropped in 2004, followed by Chase This Light in 2007. Invented was whipped up for 2010, and right on time Damage hit in 2013. Now that it’s 2016, it’s time for another album from Mesa, Arizona’s pop-punk phenomenon. And that’s exactly what we’re getting.

Though we don’t yet have a title for these fortysomething angsty kids’ latest release, we do know to expect it on October 21, according to Pitchfork. And we can make a pretty good guess at what it will sound like, since the quartet was kind enough to provide us with a pretty auspicious brand new single, “Get Right.”

As you can hear, Jimmy Eat World is not quite the same breakneck-paced garage band as when it released its debut demo tape in 1993. In an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show, lead vocalist Jim Adkins gave some insight into the process by which the newest Jimmy Eat World effort was brought into existence.
