When the cat’s away, the mice at Jimmy Kimmel Live! will play.

Jimmy Kimmel may be on hiatus, leaving his show to a parade of guest hosts, but that doesn’t mean he’s left viewers’ hearts. A listing from Jimmy Kimmel Live in search of “actors who need health insurance” is currently making the rounds on Twitter, creating a spike in social media’s rarest resource, optimism. Initially tweeted by user @bestidest, the post calls for “actors who are one role away from qualifying for SAG insurance. Actors must be $1401 or less away from reaching the threshold to qualify for health insurance. Must provide proof for consideration.”

The A.V. Club confirmed the listing, but this isn’t the first time Kimmel has helped actors retain health care. In 2022, again while Kimmel was on vacation, guest host Kerry Washington helped two actors who were one line of dialogue away from retaining coverage.

“I’m a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild, or SAG as we say in the biz, but in order to get SAG healthcare, you have to make a certain amount of money each year, which is not always easy to do,” Washington said. “So, we invited a few fellow real actors to the show tonight who are very close to qualifying for coverage. And they will get there if they deliver just one more line of dialogue on TV.”

Whether it’s for a similar segment or Kimmel wants to put those in need at the front of the line, some lucky SAG members won’t have to think twice about going to the doctor much longer. Well, at least until next year.
