Jodie Foster to direct an episode of Black Mirror
If you’re looking for someone who’s willing to go to strange places and root around in the less pleasant corners of human psychology, then you can probably do a lot worse than approaching the woman who directed Mel Gibson in The Beaver. To that point, Variety is reporting that Jodie Foster has signed on to helm an episode of Black Mirror. According to reports, the 53-year-old actor-filmmaker will direct Rosemarie DeWitt (Your Sister’s Sister) in an episode for the Netflix’s pitch-black sci-fi anthology series’ fourth season.
This is not Foster’s first gig behind a TV camera; she made her directorial debut working on a 1988 episode of HBO’s morose anthology series Tales From The Crypt. Since then, she’s directed two episodes of Orange Is The New Black and one episode of House Of Cards (both also for Netflix), in addition to four feature films.
The oddly hopeful third season of Black Mirror is set to begin streaming on Netflix at 12 a.m. PT tonight.
