Based on the memoir of the same name by Garrard Conley, the new film Boy Erased follows the son of two Baptist parents who is outed as gay at the age of 19 and forced to take part in gay conversion therapy. We spoke with Conley and director Joel Edgerton about Boy Erased and the harsh realities LGBTQ youth face when they come out to intolerant parents.
