Joel McHale heads to CBS and The Great Indoors
Community survivor, The Soup escapee, and all-around grizzled TV veteran Joel McHale is throwing himself right back into the sitcom shit, signing on for a new series about a man’s man surrounded by weirdos. Why? Because that’s just the kind of hardened primetime survivor Joel McHale is, god damn it. According to Deadline, McHale has been tapped as the lead in CBS’s The Great Indoors, playing a rough-and-tumble adventure reporter whose sudden injury forces him into a desk job, complete with a staff of those dreaded “millennials” we’re always hearing about. The part was apparently written specifically for McHale by executive producer Mike Gibbons (The Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn, The Showbiz Show With David Spade, Tosh.0), a man who might be considered Hollywood’s leading connoisseur of vaguely appealing, cockily smirking jerks.
