John Carpenter entrusts Halloween to David Gordon Green and Danny McBride
In a truly unexpected turn of events, Deadline reports that Halloween creator John Carpenter has given Pineapple Express director David Gordon Green and his comedy partner Danny McBride his blessing to write the newest chapter in the Halloween saga, with Green set to direct. Carpenter explained the unusual choice in a Facebook post:
Carpenter promised a “back to basics” approach when the new movie was announced back in May of last year, an approach that seemingly includes putting two guys best known for their stoner-comedy genre hybrids in charge of a classic slasher franchise. It’s way too early to tell right now how this is going to turn out, but if Carpenter is looking to shake things up, this is…one way to do that.
The eleventh Halloween movie—which is still untitled—is set to premiere on October 19th, 2018.
