John Krasinski in talks to join J.J. Abrams’ God Particle
Variety is reporting that John Krasinski is “in early talks” to join David Oyelowo and Gugu Mbatha-Raw in God Particle, the sci-fi thriller produced by J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot studio. The movie is apparently about a team of astronauts who “make a terrifying discovery that challenges everything they know about the fabric of reality,” with Coming Soon expanding that synopsis to include a particle accelerator accident, a disappearing Earth, and signals from a mysterious space station. For Krasinski, the idea of playing a character who shows up for work and witnesses a series of ridiculous/bizarre things should feel familiar, since he recently filmed a movie with Michael Bay.
The Coming Soon article also suggests that God Particle could end up being the next entry in the loosely defined Cloverfield series, but if 10 Cloverfield Lane is anything to go by, Abrams and Bad Robot probably won’t make any announcements about that for a while. Either way, God Particle will be directed by Julius Onah from a script that was most recently rewritten by Star Trek Beyond’s Doug Jung.
