John Leguizamo joins that Tina Fey-Amy Poehler movie that everyone’s already in
While everyone was distracted by the movies about Star Wars and comic books, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were secretly assembling their own Justice League Rebel Alliance for their upcoming comedy The Nest. First they got Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who—let’s face it—are a pretty big get on their own. Then they grabbed The Mindy Project’s Ike Barinholtz, who is probably glad that he’s no longer “MadTV’s Ike Barinholtz,” as well as James Brolin and Maya Rudolph. In fact, it seems like the only thing the movie is missing now is a veteran from the classic Super Mario Bros. movie to give it some real gravitas.
According to Variety, they’ve managed to do just that by hiring John Leguizamo. The Nest—which is being directed by Pitch Perfect’s Jason Moore—is about two thirtysomething sisters who return to their childhood home to find that it’s being sold, with Barinholtz as Poehler’s love interest, Brolin as their father, and Rudolph as a friend of the sisters. We don’t know who Leguizamo will be playing, but if we were to make an educated guess, we’d say he’ll be a previously unmentioned brother, a love interest for Fey, or another childhood friend. Or maybe The Nest will take an unexpected sci-fi turn and he’ll be some kind of alien invader. There’s really no way of knowing for sure.
Though we don’t have any other official casting announcements to report, sources close to the project tell us that Fey and Poehler are hoping to hire every other actor who has ever acted, including the really terrible one.
