John Slattery says “why not,” signs up for Ted 2

Proving that Mad Men is indeed a launching pad to greatness for any actor, cast member John Slattery has revealed his next step now that the series is ending: he signed on for a role in Ted 2.

Not content to merely continue being a critically acclaimed actor-director, Slattery has apparently decided his double-threat status was weak in the realm of interacting with CGI teddy bears. Hitfix reports that Slattery has joined the sequel to the all-time top-grossing original comedy in an unspecified role. Anonymous sources say they hope said unspecified role is “Esteemed Actor Who Quickly Departs His Role In Ridiculous Sequel.”

True, Slattery is merely following in the footsteps of Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman, both of whom have also signed on to lend their credibility to the exercise of staring at a tennis ball in front of a green screen and saying, “Oh, Ted, you’re outrageous” with a Charles Grodin-esque look of exasperation. Ted 2 is slated for a summer 2015 release.
