John Travolta and Uma Thurman will reunite, probably not dance in Oliver Stone's Savages

Oliver Stone’s adaptation of Don Winslow’s Savages already has a solid cast lined up—including Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, Aaron Johnson, and Taylor Kitsch—but all these have immediately become secondary to the casting of John Travolta and Uma Thurman, whose presence now guarantees at least one Pulp Fiction-related question per every interview about the film. Of course, Travolta and Thurman have reunited since then once before—in F. Gary Gray’s ill-advised Get Shorty follow-up Be Cool—though this time out should be slightly more dignified, as one would hope that Stone has the good sense not to shoehorn in an awkward dance scene set to the Black Eyed Peas. It’s doubtful they’ll find a reason, considering Travolta plays a “burned-out DEA agent” who enters Thurman’s orbit when Thurman’s spacey daughter “O” (played by Blake Lively) is kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel, after O’s pot-grower friends (Johnson and Kitsch) refuse to work for them. Yeah, that doesn’t sound like something to dance about.
