John Travolta’s on a familiar path to avenge his wife in I Am Wrath trailer
The trailer for I Am Wrath is here, and it plays like a montage of scenes from the action thriller’s predecessors, in addition to including a montage scenes of breaking news reports and a governor who doth protest his state’s crime rates too much. There are shades of Death Wish in the subsequent scene, which leaves Stanley Hill’s (John Travolta) wife dead, followed by a hint of John Wick as Stanley literally breaks down a wall to his past. And, like Gerard Butler in Law Abiding Citizen, Stanley’s an engineer with a knack for revenge plots, who must contend with a less-than-ideal criminal justice system. But at least Christopher Meloni’s along for the ride as Stanley’s buddy Dennis, who barely pauses to consider if he’s too old for this shit.
I Am Wrath was directed by Chuck Russell (The Scorpion King, Eraser) and also stars Rebecca DeMornay, Sam Trammell, and 12 Monkeys’ Amanda Schull. It hits VOD on April 15 and theaters on May 13.
[Note: I Am Wrath is being distributed by Saban Films which, like The A.V. Club, is owned by Univision Communications.]
