Johnny Depp now being sued for allegedly punching a man

According to Variety, Johnny Depp is being sued for allegedly punching a location manager while filming his new movie about the Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur murders (it was originally called LAbyrinth, which is really dumb, but now it’s City Of Lies). The location manager, Gregg “Rocky” Brooks, says Depp had asked him to get a permit extended so he could continue shooting a “longer version” of a “scene with two friends” at the Barclay Hotel in Los Angeles. Brooks says he was able to get the permit extended for Depp twice, but by 11 p.m. the permit official told him he had to shut down the filming. Brooks says he went to director Brad Furman, who kind of blew him off and told him to tell Depp that they had to stop.

When he tried to do that, Brooks says that Depp started shouting at him, saying, “Who the fuck are you?” and “You have no right to tell me what to do.” He says he tried to explain that it was his job as a location manager to make sure filming complied with the city’s permit laws, to which Depp responded, “I don’t give a fuck who you are and you can’t tell me what to do.” Then he allegedly punched Brooks twice in the ribs and yelled “I will give you $100,000 to punch me in the face right now,” prompting Depp’s bodyguards to step in and pull him away. Brooks also notes in his lawsuit that he could smell alcohol on Depp’s breath, and that he was fired from the film a few days later when he refused to sign a release waiving his right to sue.
