Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga woke up this mornin', joined the Sopranos prequel

According to Variety, Jon Bernthal from The Punisher and Vera Farmiga from the Conjuring movies have joined Alessandro Nivola and whoever will play kid Tony in The Many Saints Of Newark, New Line’s Sopranos prequel movie. The film revolves around the good old days of the New Jersey mob in the ‘60s, centering on Nivola’s Dickie Moltisanti (an often-referenced character from the original HBO series who had been murdered by a crooked cop before the events of the show). The script for the movie was co-written by series creator David Chase, who Variety says has also been very “hands on” in the casting process for Nivola, Bernthal, and Farmiga. We don’t know who Bernthal and Farmiga will be playing, but Chase’s involvement (and the fact that they’re fairly famous) means they’ll probably be prominent characters—though both are too old to play kid Tony Soprano, who will also apparently have a big role in the movie despite being a kid.
